Zoo

    November has never been this exciting. We learned about animals this month and had the chance to be zookeepers! We took pictures with quokkas, tarsiers, monkeys, and guinea pigs. We also spotted differences between pictures and traced our way out to a maze. Have you ever seen a quokka?

　今月の、お昼休みの英語活動「ファングリッシュワールド」のテーマは、動物園です！英語で動物園を探検したり、飼育員になって、めずらしい世界の動物たちを紹介しています！

GTEC

     After weeks of intensive review lessons, the GTEC (Global Test of English Communication) Junior 2 was finally held this November 4th at Nishi Elementary School. The test measures four skills: reading, writing, listening, and speaking learned during the students' entire study in their primary school. It was challenging for the most part, but we are sure that everyone did their best. Well, done, sixth graders!

     ６年生が英語の４技能テストGTECを受けました！６年間の楽しい英語学習の成果がスコアとして出るので、毎年こどもたちの自信に繋がっています！

Happy Halloween

      It's October and we all know what this means- it's Halloween season! It's time to put on our witches' hats and bat ears as we learn about Halloween. We did so many fun things this year. We learned about traditions like trick or treating and costume parties. We also played fun games like "knock-know, how many ghosts?", vocabulary relay, and halloween bingo. It was so exciting! What traditions do you have for halloween?

      みんなが待ちに待ったハロウィン！ちょっぴりドキドキする怖さもありつつ、英語の先生達と楽しいゲームで大盛り上がりでした！

Where is it from?

　The sixth graders were observed by the Board of Education today. It was a good opportunity to show how much the students have imrpoved in the lesson. Today, they learned about stationery and where things are made. They also had a group work to discuss what they have discovered in their research. As it turns out, many things are made in Asia particulary in China, Vietnam, and Japan. Go check your things. Where are they from?

　計画訪問があり、６年生の英語の授業をたくさんの先生方に見ていただきました！子どもたちは身近な製品の生産地をグループで調べ、友達と協力しながら英語で発表！「なるほど～！」と楽しそうに学び合う姿がとても頼もしかったです！

Hospital

    "What's the matter? Does your stomach hurt?" The kids discovered what's inside their stomach by undergoing a check-up in a hospital during FUNglish World. They were shocked to see veggies and fruits in their MR scan.

　９月のお昼休みの英語活動では、病院のドクターやナース、薬剤師、患者役になりきって、MRIチェックをしたりと、病院ごっこをしています。「どうしましたか？」「どこが痛みますか？」などの英語表現を使って、楽しく学んでいます！

Welcome back to school

Finishing 1st semester! 

  Thank you everyone for an incredible and fun 1st semester! It was filled with so many amazing memories, from learning English songs to making great friends. Have a well-deserved break! Wishing everyone a fun, safe and wonderful summer vacation!

  1学期のFunglishが終わりました！英語の歌を元気に歌ったり、お友達の事を紹介したり、時刻も英語で言えるようになって、たくさんの「できた」が増えた１学期でした！

　Meeting New Friends

　Excitement was in the air as Nishi's fifth graders gathered to meet their new friends from Kuroiwa by pressing play on their self-introduction videos! With each video clip, a new personality popped onto the screen, sharing what they like, what they can do, and what they can't. It was a fantastic digital meet-and-greet, proving that making new friends can be just a click away.

   ５年生のみんなで「can / can't」を使った英語の自己紹介ビデオを作りました！「I can play soccer!」など、元気にアピール！黒岩小学校の５年生にビデオレターを送ったら、すぐにお返しのビデオレターが届いて大盛り上がり！統合に向けて、ワクワクの交流が始まっています！

Restaurant

     The FUNglish room transformed into a bustling Italian restaurant, where enthusiastic kids settled in at their tables, ready to order drinks and food from the menu. Little chefs approached each table to take orders from the diners practicing the line, "What would you like?." The dining mood was set with Italian background music making the kids' restaurant experience complete. It was a fun dining experience!

　　Our fourth graders looked stunning as they had their fashion show this week. They learned about the weather and what clothes to wear. Although some kids were shy, most said that they wanted to do it again. See you again next season as we have more fun-filled English lessons!

　　４年生の英語の授業では「世界の天気と服装」について学びました！まとめの発表では、ファッションショーを行いました！最初は少しはずかしそうにしていた子どもたち。でも、音楽が流れるとスイッチオン！元気いっぱいの笑顔でランウェイを歩く姿は、まるで本物のモデルさん！ショーの後には「楽しかった！」「またやりたい！」の声がたくさん聞こえてきて、笑顔あふれる素敵な時間になりました！

　Today marks the end of English classes for the 2024 school year! We had fun learning English through games and conversation, and everyone grew a lot! English is the power to connect with the world. Let's continue to have fun while studying together!

　今日で１年間の英語の授業が最後になります。ゲームや会話を楽しく学び、みんな大きく成長しましたね！英語は世界とつながる力になります。これからも楽しみながら一緒に勉強していきましょう！

Sea Animals

     Let's go fishing! Funglish World's theme for this month is Sea Animals. We fed a shark, went fishing, and took pictures with a turtle, puffer fish , and crab. It was great!

    お昼休みの英語活動、ファングリッシュ・ワールドでは、「海のいきもの」の単語を学びながら、楽しい活動をしています！サメのポイントゲーム、魚釣り、間違え探しなど、今年度最後の、休み時間の英語活動を元気に行っています！

Eater

   Happy Easter! As we welcome spring, we celebrate new beginnings, too. The second graders reviewed numbers and learned about Easter today. It's the last lesson for this year. Thank you for your hard work. See you next school year!

This is my day!

　This week, the grade 4 students had to guess each other's morning schedule. They practiced telling time and learned new vocabulary. It was an interesting lesson.

　４年生は１日の行動を英語で表現する練習をしています。今週は朝の活動でした！新しい単語や英文にもすぐ言えるようになってきましたね！

Presentation

　Where in Japan do you want to go? The 5th graders made a presentation about interesting places to visit in Japan. They also talked about good food to try and activities to do. Their presentations showed great improvement from how they used to be. They used gestures, loud voices, and eye contact, too! Good job!

  ５年生が日本のおすすめの場所を英語で発表しました！発音やイントネーションも気をつけながら、上手に堂々と発表できました！

　Happy Valentine's Day! Funglish world has a lot to offer this February. We're playing board games where students get to learn vocabulary related to Valentine's. They can also be ice cream sellers and bookmark makers. Come and join us!

   今月のお昼休みの英語活動「ファングリッシュワールド」では、バレンタインをテーマに毎週色々なゲームを行っています！今週はアイスクリームけん玉をしました！

Happy Valentine's Day!

   It's February and Valentine's day is coming up. The second graders learned about shapes and colors. Then, they played i-spy, looking for the other half of their broken hearts. The class ended with the chocolates they made using different shapes. It was a busy, but fun day.

  ２月といえばバレンタインデーですね！２年生は色と形の英語の練習をして、ハートの半分を見つけるゲームをしました！最後には感謝の気持ちをこめて、バレンタインのカードを作りました！

Let's go to Japan!

　　Many foreigners visit Japan every year, so the fifth graders made recommendations for them. This unit, they talked about fun activities, wonderful places, and delicious food in each region. Osaka is famous for its takoyaki, how about your hometown? 

      日本には外国人観光客が多く訪れますね！５年生は全国各地のおすすめの場所を伝えられるように練習しています！

Body Parts

   Do you know Rose and Leonard? They are imaginary friends made by our students from the Aohima class. Today, we had an interactive lesson about body parts. We sang the "Head, Shoulders, Knees, and Toes" song, played "Follow the Leader", and drew their original characters' faces.

　あおひまのクラスでは、顔やからだのパーツを英語で言ってみました。ヘッド・アンド・ショルダーの歌い、単語を練習し、英語で福笑いゲームをして楽しみました！

本日、修了式で令和５年度の学校生活が終わります。「 Funglish」 を通してたくさんの楽しい英語学習ができた１年間でした。 ありがとうございました。

先週の金曜日に卒業された６年生は、 今のALTの先生と1番長い約3年半の間、一緒に勉強しました。

６年生と最後の英語の授業でした。

最後は楽しみながら、英語を使ってハワイの文化を学んだり、自分の手形をとったり、クレープを一緒に作って食べたりしました。

たくさんの楽しい思い出をありがとうございました。

５年生、最後の英語の授業を行いました。ＡＬＴの先生からハワイのことをプレゼンテーションで教えてもらい、フラダンスの動画を鑑賞しました。

ハワイに関する英単語を練習し、ゲームも楽しみました。６年生も一緒に英語学習を楽しみましょう！

3月18日

１年生、最後の英語の授業を行いました。３月にハワイで行われるホノルル祭りについて学び、ハワイの文化や自然、生き物の英単語を発音してみました。

みんなで一緒にフラダンスを踊ってとても楽しかったです。１年間、ありがとうございました。２年生になっても、また一緒に楽しく英語を学んでいきましょう。

５年生は、１年間のまとめとして、復習をしています。

今回は、少し難しい単元だった、英語で道案内をみんなで行いました。ＡＬＴの先生と楽しみながら行うことが出来ました。

3月12日

３月にハワイで開催される、ホノルル祭りについて学びました。

お祭りでどんなことが行われるか、またハワイの文化や自然、生き物などについて知ることができました。みんなでフラダンスに挑戦し、とても盛り上がりました。

３学期も後半になり、残り少ない英語の授業になってきました。４年生最後の英語の学習は、校内のお気に入りの場所を英語で紹介することです。

カルタや教科書にのっている学校の図を見て、様々な場所を英単語で発音する練習を行いました。

3月11日

３年生が、２月から頑張っていた英語のクイズ作りを終え、今日はみんなでクイズ大会を行いました。簡単なものから、難しいクイズ、ひっかけクイズなど色々なクイズが出題し、とても楽しい授業になりました。

あおぞら、ひまわりの教室では、３月にハワイで行われるホノルル祭りについて学びました。

ハワイの文化、自然、生き物の英単語などを教えてもらい、楽しいサメゲームも行いました。

　３月のＮザニア活動のテーマは、水族館です。海洋生物の英単語を学びつつ、イルカになってボールをヘディングしたり、チョウチンアンコウになって餌をとって、ポイントをゲットするゲームをしました。
